Title: Computational Intelligence and AI in Games: A New IEEE Transactions Abstract:

The aim of this important new journal is to publish high quality papers on all aspects of computational intelligence and artificial intelligence related to games. In this talk I will briefly discuss the history of the various fields the journal brings together, and highlight what I believe are some of the most interesting future directions.

Speaker: Dr. Simon Lucas is a Reader in the Department of Computing and Electronic Systems at the University of Essex. His research interests are evolutionary computation, games, pattern recognition, and robotics. He is the founding Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Computational Intelligence and AI in Games. He is an associate editor of the IEEE Transactions on Evolutionary Computation, and the Springer Journal of Memetic Computing. He was chair of the International Association for Pattern Recognition Technical Committee on Benchmarking and Software from 2002 to 2006. He has over 130 publications in refereed scientific journals and conferences, and is a Senior Member of the IEEE.
